The problem i got is i place a rectangle, and make it ~400x400 then i want the next rectangle to be 430x430mm and i want to move it so i get 15mm on all edges, but this is where it stops, when i get confused. i've spent the last hour i guess reading the doc that came with qcad, and i just cant find what i'm looking for i guess, i've got limited knowledge from 3dmax and some from Z-modeller, modelling cars. but i can write manually on paper a build draw on atleast half complex mechanical stuff, i just dont get the cad tools.

Good luck, Peteryep your right, i got no clue about cad. If you run into some more specific problems, post back and I'll try to be of help. I can also suggest buying the commercialversion and/or the book it is very cheap and the book is a very good introduction to cad in general. Google for qcad tutorial and you get some tutorials.

If you install qcad-doc ( or something like that ) you get a very basic qcad manual. Uhmm, it sounds like you have no CAD ecperience at all ? ( no offense intended ) Or am I wrong? What you want is actually what cad is all about, but it will be a very very long answer to explain here.
